FAQ's

Q - What makes the iRippit different than other duplicators?

A - Raptor Innovations has chosen a manufacturing plant that has the highest procedures and standards in quality and testing.  We, at Raptor Innovations, wanted the iRippit to be environmentally friendly, lead free, and at the same time, pass the very highest standards.  We are proud to display the below symbols on the iRippit to ensure quality is at the highest possible level.

Q - How do I clean my iRippit?
A - The best maintenance for your system is preventive maintenance. Using a system in an area with excessive dust, smoke, or other contaminants is not recommended since it can increase error rates and reduce hardware life expectancy. Some light cleaning can be performed, but there is no substitute for a clean environment. You can use a can of compressed air ONLY for dusting out the drive.

Q - How long should the iRippit last?
A - With proper care of the iRippit you should have it for many years to come.

Q - What brands of media are recommended for my iRippit?
A- We recommend name brand media. If you are having trouble with the information you are duplicating, your media would be the first variable to check. You can also check this website for recommended brands to use.

Q – Sometimes, my iRippit won’t pick up discs from the Input basket. Why?
A - Are there 50 discs or less in the bin? If so push the retry button, if the problem still persists try turning off the iRippit for ten seconds than turn back on, run the program burning process again. If problem persists call Customer support.

Q – Sometimes, my iRippit does not pick up media from recorder tray. Why?
A - Push the retry button, if problem still persists clear disc and try again. If this fails try shutting the machine down for 10 seconds turning it on again and run burn process again. Please ensure that you “shuffle” your discs before loading it into the input bin. If the problem persists call customer support.

Q – Sometimes, my iRippit does not turn on when the switch is turned on.  Why?
A - Check your Power cord.  Is it connected to the iRippit? Is the power cord plugged into an electrical outlet? If so, shut switch off for 10 seconds and try again. If problem persists call customer service.

Q – Are you having trouble playing an audio CD in a home or car player?
A - First ensure your media is compatible. Not all players get along with all brands of CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW media. If you're getting skips and jumps, make sure that you don't have anti-skip protection enabled. This is usually only available on portable or car players, and you may not be able to disable it on car players. You may find that slowing down or speeding up the recorder helps. Also ensure that your player supports mp3 files otherwise try changing the file format.

Q - If my recording fails, is my media reusable?
A - That depends on what was being recorded, how it was being recorded, and how far along in the process you were. If your project failed while writing the lead-in, before any data was written, the disc probably isn't usable. Failures in the middle of writing result in a CD-ROM that probably isn't worth trusting. Some of the data will be there, some won't. The directory for the disc may show more files than are actually present, and you won't know which are actually there until you try to read them. Audio CDs recorded in disc-at-once mode are a special case. Because the TOC is written up front, the disc is readable in a standard CD player even if the write process doesn't finish.

Q - Can I copy DVD movies with my iRippit?
A - Copying store bought DVD movies for redistribution is illegal, Raptor Innovations does not condone this.

Q - Can I print and apply Labels before I put them onto my iRippit?
A - If you print or apply labels to the media before writing the information to the discs, you may cause the disc to spin off-balance (or wobble) while burning. This will cause the drive to have a shorter life span and possible burning errors.

Q - Can I use my iRippit with a MAC?
A - At this time the iRippit and it’s software are not supported by MACS, we are in the process of making a new version that will be supported for release at a later date.  Check back soon.

Q - Can I record on DVD-DL (Dual-Layer) and do you know the speed it runs with when burning DL.

A - Yes the iRippit can.  Sony Optiarc's tray-loading, multi-format SATA DVD burner can burn DVD±R discs at up to amazing 20X speed, writing 4.7GB DVD in about 5 minutes. Dual-layer disc burning allows you to store 8.5 GB of data on a single DVD.

Q - Can I use a different USB 2.0 Cable other than the one the one that comes with my iRippit?
A - Raptor Technologies International Ltd. supplies the USB 2.0 cable that has been tested and proven to respond with the iRippit. We recommend you use this one. Any other USB 2.0 cable, that is not supplied by Raptor voids the iRippit one year warranty.
